Characteristics of Reactive Hyperemia in the Canine Intestine.

چکیده
• Although many studies have dealt with postocclusion ("reactive") hyperemia in skeletal muscles," and a considerable number with such hyperemia in the coronary " and renal circulations," little systematic study of this phenomenon appears to have been made on the intestinal circulation. Since this vascular bed has received considerable attention in relation to intestinal ischemic shock," endotoxic,' and hemorrhagic shock,a detailed study of the response of the intestinal circulation to brief periods of ischemia appeared warranted as a help in understanding better the hemodynamic changes which occur in shock.

Comparison of hyaluronic acid-containing topical eye drops with carbomer-based topical ocular gel as a tear replacement in canine keratoconjunctivitis sicca: A prospective study in twenty five dogs
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a hyaluronic acid containing eye drop in ameliorating ocular surface pathology and discomfort in canine keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS). Twenty five dogs with KCS treated with a topical carbomer (CA)-based tear replacement gel were moved to treatment with a hyaluronic acid (HA)-containing tear replacement eye drop. Dogs were subject to a fu...
متن کاملMicrovascular sites and mechanisms responsible for reactive hyperemia in the coronary circulation of the beating canine heart.
Our aim was to elucidate the site and mechanism responsible for reactive hyperemia in coronary circulation. In in vivo beating canine hearts, microvessels of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) were observed through a microscope equipped with a floating objective. Flow velocity of the LAD was measured with a suction-type Doppler probe. The LAD was occluded for 20 or 30 seconds an...
متن کاملIntracoronary adenosine deaminase reduces canine myocardial reactive hyperemia.
We employed intracoronary infusions of calf intestine adenosine deaminase (ADA) to test the hypothesis that adenosine regulates coronary blood flow during myocardial reactive hyperemia (RH). Infusions of 4.5 U ADA/min per kg body weight into the left circumflex coronary artery of 10 open-chest dogs reversibly reduced repayment of flow debt by 30-39% (P less than 0.05) following 5-, 10-, 15-, 20...
متن کاملAdenosine metabolism in canine myocardial reactive hyperemia.
In pentobrabital-anesthetized open chest dogs, myocardial adenosine content is elevated by 5 or 15 seconds of left coronary artery occlusion and falls exponentially to control levels during reactive hyperemia. The rate constants for adenosine dissipation are (mean +/- SEM): -0.08 +/- 0.01 and -0.034 +/- 0.007 sec-1 after 5- and 15-second occlusion, respectively. Kinetic analysis of the reactive...
متن کاملRegulation of postocclusive hyperemia by endogenously synthesized prostaglandins in the dog heart.
Experiments were performed to evaluate the role of prostaglandin synthesis in the regulation of coronary blood flow in dog hearts. The left main coronary artery was cannulated and flow measured both in otherwise intact animals and in canine heart-lung preparations. Prostaglandin E was measured by radioimmunoassay. Reactive hyperemia (flow after occlusion release) was induced by coronary occlusi...
